What is this French Indochina insignia?

It looks like this well-known insignia of the self-defense forces:

Now identified as the 5th Vietnamese Commando, Bien Hoa area 1948-1952

This is part of the French numerous "Forces Suppletives" in Indochina. These groups fought alongside the regular French Army. Some of these groups, such as the Cao Dai or the Binh Xuyen were well-known for their bravery and effectiveness while fighting the Vietminh.
