ID help for ARVN M1 helmet

I've just bought an old hemet M1 on flea market. Can somebody help to ID this one is newly painted or genuine ?

Looks quite goood, but you never know. I have seen this helmet before, where did you buy it?

I bought it in Saigon.It costs about 15 bucks.

I feel it was painted in District 4.

Your further information will be welcome.I haven't experienced in such a case.

Hi guys,

just got some info. from my friend.

This helmet was from Biệt Đoàn 5 CSDC ( The 5th Tactical Mobile Group /TMG5 - National Police Field Force ) in Tet Offensive 1968, fought around Cha Tam church in Chinatown and TSN airbase area ,,, ). It was a well-known unit as with Biệt Đoàn 222 ( TMG 222 )

Yes that is correct Cay Mai. I have had the opportunity to see some photos of those helmet, but just on two occasions.

Hello,

are we sure it s the BD5?, Richard stated on WAF, thats it was for policemen from the district 5.
thanks to NTS i saw the fotos in question, but i could not see any field police (CSDC) in their uniform wearing this helmet.

Actually I think that it is a special unit (kind of reaction force maybe) created to assist the CSDC in Cholon.

Again, more a feeling than something established.

NTS is totally right. They were 2 special units ( Biệt Đoàn 5 and Biệt Đoàn 222 ) of RVN National Police

BD5CSDC based in Phú Thọ, District 6 ( pre 75 )

Hi to all! This is my first post...and this is my first M1!
Thanks to this thread (and to Olivier:) ), I understand more about this Police unit.
I'm sure that I will learn very much about Vietnam war and ARVN, here in this Forum.
Sorry for my bad english...but my french is more worse! Shocked
